Teenovation is an experiential 2-day bootcamp for high school students. Participants can choose from three tracks where participants will solve problems to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG):

  • Teen Developer; where they will learn how to build software based solutions such as mobile application and website using open source tools.
  • Teen Inventor; where they will discover the use of various sensors and try to build hardware solutions to solve everyday problems.
  • Teen Designer; where they will use augmented reality and virtual reality to create a meaningful impact to the community.
Participants will be guided by a group of facilitators and they will learn effective tools such as design thinking, rapid prototyping and business model canvas via a module that is designed specifically for their age group.

They will form a group, go through an intensive brainstorming session, create a structure for their ideas, building a prototype, and on the final day, they will compete by proposing their solution in a mini Demo Day. The programme is planned quarterly according to participating schools.

Programme Objectives

Participants will join various activities and workshops to help them learn useful methodology and tools. They will learn by doing, as this will help them to discover their strength and interest.

Participants will need to use their communication skills to interact with their team members. They will work together to compete with other teams, and learn how to build meaningful networks in their circle.

Participants will grow their idea from concept to product. They will need to be resourceful, and they will learn various open source tools to help them design and build a functioning product.

Participants will learn various communication technique for them to deliver any information about their product to various type of people. They will learn how to visualize and communicate any information effectively.

Programme Outline


Participants will learn how to brainstorm by participating in ideation activities tailored for them to enhance their learning experience. The goal is for them to choose one idea that they want to develop into a venture.

Venture Building
Participants will go through a series of workshop, helping them to refine their idea, discover their customer, and generating a sustainable business model for their venture.

Product Development
Based on the tracks, participants will learn how to use available tools to turn their idea from a concept into a product.

Mini Demo Day
Participants will compete in a product showcase and a group of judges will be assessing them. The participants will need to be able to communicate their product effectively to the audience.

Expected Programme Outcome
The program will help foster an entrepreneurial mindset that students will use in and out of school, and for a lifetime.

Target Market
Each tracks will consist of 40 students from 5 schools, and divided into 8 groups. Students will be divided to their tracks based on their interest. We will mainly focus on students from higher secondary, aged 16-18, from various schools around Malaysia.
Students from technical and vocational schools are encouraged to join the Teen Inventor track as they can build IOT based solution and upgrade their existing technical skills.
